Course Description:
World Geography is a one year course that gives a condensed survey of the world’s geography including both physical and cultural geography. Students will be introduced to basic physical geography and will go through a brief survey of the world’s regions.
The first semester begins with a study of physical geography including the study of land forms, map reading, weather, and climate. Next, the study of political, economic, and cultural geography is covered. During the second semester, the focus changes to a systematic study of the cultures, products and physical geography of the world’s regions.
Course Goals:
1. To introduce the students to the fundamentals of geography.
2. To increase the students’ knowledge of diverse cultures of the world.
3. To help the students locate the world’s countries on a map.
4. To teach the students to read topographical and other kinds of map.
5. To help the students to identify different geographic formations and how they were formed.
