Course Description:

In English I, grammar is discussed and covered in depth. Short writing assignments are given to correlate with the grammar being discussed. Students keep a writing journal of essays and learn new spelling and vocabulary words weekly. Literature is covered throughout the year and students are required to read several categories of books. Students learn to write and appreciate different styles of poetry.

Goals:

1. To improve writing skills.

2. To improve speaking skills.

3. To provide a very solid background in grammar.

4. To introduce literature and kindle a love for it.

5. To increase speed and comprehension in reading.

6. To broaden the vocabulary.

7. To improve all the communication skills.
