Spanish II

¡ Bienvenidos a Español 2!
I am very excited to have you back this year!
Last year, you began the challenging journey of learning and understanding the beautiful Spanish language. In this class you will not only review and practice what you learned last year but you will learn new vocabulary and new verb tenses (commands, future, past, and subjunctive).
You will face “real life” situations in which you will have to practice your Spanish, express opinions, interview classmates, follow a food recipe, give and ask for directions, visit a Mexican restaurant, talk about sports, go “shopping”, and learn about fascinating and unique countries and regions where Spanish is spoken. You will also learn about Christian missionaries in those countries and their faithful work.
Remember that learning to speak, read, and write a second language has many advantages: opportunities for work; a better understanding of different world views; appreciation for your own language and culture; prospects for new friendships; as well as a greater knowledge for precautions while traveling in foreign countries. You will be able to communicate with others, and especially share the powerful message of the Gospel to many who need so desperately to hear it.
Course Description:
Spanish II is a college preparatory one year course providing students with increased knowledge of the Spanish language. The emphasis in the second year will be placed on using the language inside and outside the classroom.
Goals:
1.To speak Spanish in class on a daily basis.
2.To increase Spanish vocabulary by supplemental readings and continued study.
3.To demonstrate proficiency in writing Spanish through homework assignments and special projects.
4.To gain an understanding of the culture of the various Spanish speaking countries.
